I am a writer living in Guelph, Canada with my husband and any number of story characters who show up at my writing desk. I originally grew up on a farm in Hartville, Ohio, pursued a master’s degree in education, and had 20 delightful years teaching elementary students.
After my own children were grown, I listened to an inner longing to study psychology at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zürich, Switzerland. My five-year training led to deeply meaningful years in private practice as a Jungian analyst in Ontario.
My interest in writing has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. The last several years I've stepped away from academic writing to delve into the historical fiction genre. I grew to love the characters as they developed, and I learned to trust them to tell their stories to me.
The Artesian Inkwell blog is a new adventure. While all my writings come from my depths and follow a very introverted path toward expression, I find that my blog pieces have taken on a style of their own. There is a sense of vulnerability in sharing personal stories and thoughts, which brings an edge to writing them. At the same time there is a more relaxed quality in their writing, as if penning a letter to an old friend.
I think all writers wonder if their stories and essays will be of any interest or value to others. I've been surprised and touched by the warm responses I've received. Perhaps we all have stories from the well-spring within us that are not so different from what most others have experienced in their own way. I hope that my Artesian Inkwell stories resonate with the stories inside of you.
